Alexander Zhukov: “I hope that our positive experience in organizing the Sochi Games will be in demand when preparing for the Games in Beijing”

Alexander Zhukov, President of the Russian Olympic Committee, IOC member commented on his appointment as Chairman of the Coordination Commission for the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022.

“It’s a great honor and at the same time a great responsibility to be the Chairman of the Coordination Commission for the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. Not long ago Beijing hosted the Summer Games and now the city is ready for the Winter Olympics. There is much work to be done but I have no doubt that China will once again hold the Olympic Games at the highest level and that all the positive changes will be implemented that are approved in the Olympic Agenda 2020. The Coordination Commission is composed of very authoritative members. I will be pleased to work with the Chairman of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee Dmitry Chernyshenko, heads of a number of international sports federations, my IOC colleagues and prominent representatives of the Olympic Movement again. I hope that our positive experience in organizing the Sochi Games will be in demand when preparing for the Games in Beijing,” Alexander Zhukov said.

Prior to this ROC President headed the IOC Evaluation Commission for the 2022Olympic Games.

Coordination Commission for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games was chaired by Jean-Claude Killy.
