Alexander Zhukov: “The National Walking Day occupied a permanent place in the calendar of mass sports events”
This is the third year that the Russian Olympic Committee is holding the All-Russian Walking Day, which has quickly gained popularity in our country and occupied a permanent place in the calendar of mass sports events.
The experience of previous years proved to be very successful. For example, we remember the year 2015 when in each of the 11 time zones of our country from Kamchatka to Kaliningrad more than 400 thousand people took the start and did a total of 1 billion steps.
For the ROC, which supports a number of large projects aimed at the development of mass and amateur sports in Russia, participation in the organization of this festival is an important activity. Because Walking is essentially the most affordable sport. Professional athletes overcome the distances of 20 and 50 kilometers. But, I think that almost anyone can cope with a few miles.
This is the goal of the all-Russian Walking Day – to attract as many people as possible to the event and give them all an energy boost. Moreover, as the most natural form of physical activity, walking has beneficial effects not only on health but it also improves mood and self esteem, develops willpower, helps to achieve success in all spheres of life.
It’s safe to say that such projects contribute to the popularization of healthy lifestyle and physical activity, involving the greatest possible number of people in sports, promoting social cohesion and nation unity. In other words, fully meets the goals set the Russian Olympic Committee.
I sincerely wish strong health, good mood and a decent workout results to all participants of the III All-Russian Walking Day!
