ROC President commented on the decision of a six-time Olympic champion Viktor Ahn to end his sports career.

    Stanislav Pozdnyajov:

    – It’s a sad news, of course. Viktor Ahn made a great contribution to the development of Short Track in Russia. Thanks largely to his victories at the Sochi Olympic Games our country once and for all got hooked on this beautiful and fascinating sport.

For many years Viktor Ahn was the leader of our national team and a clever teacher for young athletes, who made rapid progress with him.

At the same time for any athlete the moment comes, when he has to leave high-performance sport. We have to take this decision and once again thank the six-time Olympic champion for everything he did for Russian and world Short Track.

I really hope that Viktor Ahn will retain ties to the country, which in fact gave him second life in sport. His knowledge and experience are priceless, especially for the younger generation.
