Alexander Zhukov congratulated sports journalists on their professional holiday
I am pleased to congratulate all sports journalists on their professional holiday — the World Sports Journalists Day!
The International Sports Press Association (AIPS) was founded in Paris on 2 July, back in 1924. AIPS currently comprises about one hundred and fifty national journalists’ unions. At the initiative of the AIPS the World Sports Journalists Day is celebrated worldwide since 1995.
This year we decided to celebrate this day in a special way. The Russian Olympic Committee awards diplomas to the best Russian journalists who have shown objectivity, effectiveness and great professionalism when covering the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
I thank everyone who has worked in Sochi. Our sports journalists helped Russian citizens not only to follow the events of the Olympic Games and support their idols, but also to feel the amazing atmosphere of a large sports festival, to feel a sense of ownership of the striking victories of the Russian team.
I wish you every success and look forward to further good cooperation!
