Evgeni Plushenko announced the resumption of his sports career

At the award ceremony, coinciding with the World Sports Journalists Day, which was held at the Rossiyskaya Gazeta press center, two-time Olympic figure skating champion Yevgeny Plushenko announced his decision to fight for a place in the national team to perform at the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang.

“I am planning to continue my sports career – said Plushenko. – I’ll try to perform at my fifth Olympics. My body is healed, there is nothing more to break.”

The head of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov took part in the solemn ceremony of awarding media representatives for efficient and highly professional coverage of the Sochi 2014 Games. The best  figure skating athlete, the best coach and the best journalist covering this sport were rewarded separately.

Evgeni Plushenko has been recognized as the best Russian skater of the 2013-2014 season, he received a statuette of our first Olympic figure skating champion Nikolai Panin-Kolomenkin, who won the Gold medal back in 1908.
