Valery Sysoev, Recipient of the IOC Olympic Order turned 75!

June 1, 2017 marks the 75th birthday of Valery Sysoev, Honorary President of the International Cycling Federation (ICU), the Recipient of the IOC Olympic Order . Today, the President of the ROC, IOC member Alexander Zhukov congratulated the jubilee.

Dear Valery Sergeyevich!

Your whole life is inseparably connected with  high performance sport. Wherever you worked, you have always been distinguished by excellent knowledge of the subject, a highly professional attitude to the case, the ability to find a way out of the most difficult situations.

A separate mention deserves your many years of work as President of the International Сycling Federation. It  is a huge responsibility and hard work to be responsible for the development of the Olympic sport on a global scale. You have perfectly coped with this most difficult task, for which in 1989 you were deservedly awarded one of the most prestigious awards – the IOC Olympic Order.

Being in the civil service, first as Deputy Chairman of the USSR State Committee for Sport, and later as the head of the Committee for Physical Culture of the Russian Federation, you made a significant contribution to the development and promotion of mass sports in our country.

Today you continue to faithfully and truly serve Russian sport. Your multi-faceted experience and brilliant analytical skills are in great demand in the international sports and Olympic movement.

Allow me to congratulate you personally and on behalf of the Russian Olympic Committee on your anniversary! I wish you good health, good mood, family well-being and success in all your endeavors!

Yours faithfully!

President of the Russian Olympic Committee,
IOC Member
Alexander Zhukov
