“The Golden fund of Soviet and Russian sport” project gets under way
On Thursday, November 28, the State Kremlin Palace hosted a state reception on the occasion of the launch of “The Golden fund of Soviet and Russian sport” project. The President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Alexander Zhukov opened the meeting and delivered a welcome speech.
More than 400 Olympic and Paralympic champions of different years, the winners and participants of various Olympiads, as well as the representatives of the sociopolitical and sporting elite of the country took part in the event devoted to the presentation of this project.
In his speech, the head of the ROC Alexander Zhukov said: “It is important to respect the victories of our modern athletes, but it is equally important to remember the victories of our sports veterans, our Olympians. It’s necessary to preserve and protect the sports history, because it is the heritage of our country”.
The all-Russian campaign “Champion School” was also presented to the audience. Within this campaign 25 Olympic champions will give their first Olympic lessons in 25 regions of the country. Famous athletes will share their experiences with the children and will pass over the Olympic values of friendship, solidarity and self-improvement.
The idea of the project belongs to the “Sports Radio”. It was supported by the Russian Olympic Committee and the Russian Union of athletes. This campaign was launched to promote the values of sports in society using the examples of the achievements of our great athletes, which represent the golden fund of the national sport.
