Oleg Znarok is appointed Head Coach of the Russian ice hockey team

Dynamo Moscow Head Coach Oleg Znarok is appointed head coach of the Russian national hockey team. Andrey Safronov became general manager of Russian athletes.

“On the outcome of negotiations it was agreed that the Russian national hockey team will be headed by Oleg Znarok. He is an experienced specialist who has repeatedly proved that he was capable to lead his team to victory. Soon coaching staff will be formed. Season ending lies ahead – an intense schedule of international tournaments. Oleg Znarok will soon start to perform his duties”, – said the president of the Ice Hockey Federation of Russia Vladislav Tretyak.

Znarok has been the head of Dynamo since 2010. He twice led his team to victory in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) in the seasons 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 and won the Gagarin Cup.

The contract of the previous head coach of the Russian national hockey team has expired after the XXII Olympic Winter Games and the Ice Hockey Federation of Russia has decided not to renew the contract with Zinetula Bilyaletdinov.

The official presentation of Oleg Znarok is scheduled for Friday, March 28.
