Russian wrestlers won four medals on the first day of the European Championship

Russian wrestlers won four medals on the first day of the European Championship, which is being held in the city of Vantaa, Finland. Our athletes won three gold and one bronze medals.

Valeria Kolobova became the winner in women’s wrestling -58kg category. In the final match she was stronger than Irina Netreba (Azerbaijan). Victoria Bobeva (Bulgaria) and Peter Olli (Finland) took third place.

Russian Nadezhda Fedorova won the bronze medal in the -48kg weight category. Frederika Peterson (Sweden) also received the bronze medal.  Maria Stadnik (Azerbaijan) became the winner and Natalia Pulkovskaya (Ukraine) is in the second position.

Russia’s Magomed Kurbanaliev defeated Servet Coskun (Turkey) in the final fight of the freestyle championship. Third place went to Borislav Novachkov (Bulgaria) and Konstantin Habapashvili (Georgia).

Russia’s Abdusalam Gadisov became the European champion in the -97kg weight category by defeating Khetag Gazyumov (Azerbaijan) in the playoff. The bronze medals went to Ivan Yankowski (Belarus) and Nikolay Cheban (Moldova).
