Lev Kofman passed away

October 8, Lev Kofman passed away in his 81st year. Lev Kofman  was the Honored coach of the RSFSR, doctor of pedagogical Sciences, Professor.

For many years L. Kofman held senior positions in Russian sports. He was the Director of the Central Sports School, Head of the Physical Education and Sports Department of the Moscow State Pedagogical University, Director General of the MGFSO, Chairman of the Moscow Government Physical Culture and Sports Committee, President of the Freestyle Federation of Russia, member of the International Ski Federation Executive Committee.

In 1989, L. Kofman worked out a system of management of physical culture and sports in Moscow, which was approved by the Ministry of Education and recommended for implementation in Russian regions. In 1998, he participated in preparation of the First World Youth Games under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee. As an Advisor to the President of the Russian Olympic Committee and member of the ROC Executive Committee, Lev Kofman has made a great contribution to the development of the Olympic movement.

Lev Kofman left more than 60 publications and research papers. He is co-author of a manual on physical culture for secondary schools and the first edition of the Your Olympic Textbook.

L. Kofman was awarded the Silver Olympic order, the IOC and other honorary awards.

The Russian Olympic Committee expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
