Today, a working meeting was held in Lausanne at the Olympic Solidarity Headquarters of IOC between its Director, James MacLeod, who is also the Head of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) relations, and Deputy Director General and Head of the ROC President’s Office, Rodion Plitukhin.
Both sides discussed several relevant issues related to the fulfillment of the cooperation agreement between ROC and Olympic Solidarity on the implementation of projects and activities in the Russian Federation.
In particular, they touched upon projects in the field of education and promotion of Olympic values, as well as training programs and support for coaches.
Much attention was given to the activities within the framework of ROC’s Olympic Country program.
The meeting also addressed in detail the participation of the Russian Olympic Committee in specialised educational programs of IOC (MEMOS) and the adaptation of IOC training manuals on management for National Olympic Committees of former Soviet states.
The participants stressed the importance of developing an international cultural and educational format for young athletes and their entourage. Work in this direction was started at the Young Olympians Forum last year and will be continued at a similar event on June 1, 2019.
Furthermore, both sides discussed in detail the creation of a discussion platform for the NOCs of ex-Soviet republics as part of the Eastern Economic Forum, which will be held from 4-6 September in Vladivostok.
The meeting in Lausanne was a continuation of cooperation between ROC and Olympic Solidarity of IOC within the framework of the Memorandum signed on October 25, 2018. According to the President of ROC Stanislav Pozdnyakov, this document is a landmark event and an indication that the relationship of ROC with international sports organisations is entering a whole new level.
