Tatyana Lebedeva joins the European Olympic Committees Athletes’ Commission

The election of the Athletes’ Commission was the centerpiece of the IV Athletes’ Assembly of the Association of European Olympic Committees (EOC), that was held October 4-5 in Porec (Croatia). The Russian Olympic Committee was represented by Olga Brusnikina, the Chairman of the ROC Athletes’ Commission.

A total of 11 applicants were running for Commission membership – 7 representatives from the summer sports and 4 representatives from the winter sports. Tatyana Lebedeva was nominated as the ROC candidate for Athletes’ Commission membership. Secret ballot elections were held. Multiple track and field world and European champion has won 29 votes out of 32 and has become a new member of the EOC Athletes’ Commission.

The first meeting of the newly elected EOC Athletes’ Commission was held within the framework of the Assembly. Jean-Michel Saive, former Belgian table tennis player, was elected the chairman of the Commission. He presented the Commission work plan to all members of the Assembly.
