Stanislav Pozdnyakov:
– I understand the IOC’s information as an attempt to take a step towards the athletes. But at the same time, unfortunately, there are two steps in the opposite direction!
Indeed, today’s statement is an attempt to correct a mistake that has already led to nearly a year of baseless restrictions on Russian and Belarusian sports and has done great damage to international sports as a whole. The voice of common sense has been heard.
At the same time, however, we continue to reject any restrictions, additional requirements and sanctions related to the nationality of our athletes that are again offered to us as a condition for our return to the international stage.
We will now make a proper legal assessment of the points contained in today’s information. Based on our legal expertise, we will continue to expand our cooperation with international sports organizations and federations. The priority for us remains the same – to protect the rights and interests of our athletes. As equals, without discrimination.
