    The finals of the all-Russian School League of the 2017-2018 season took place at the Golf&Country Club Don in the Rostov region. According to the results of the competitions, representatives of 5 regions: Moscow, Rostov, Sakhalin, Krasnodar and Krasnoyarsk regions rose to the podium.

    The awarding ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the all-Russian School Golf League Organizing Committee Denis Zherebko, Head of the Mass Sports Development Department of the ROC Natalia Hamidova, Deputy Minister of Sports of the Rostov region Peter Serov, President of the Golf Federation of the Rostov region Vladimir Revenko.

    The competitions are part of the School Golf project, which is implemented by the Russian Golf Association within the framework of the Olympic Country program. Teams from 13 regions (Moscow, Moscow, Rostov, Ryazan, Irkutsk, Samara, Sakhalin, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk regions, the Republic of Tatarstan, Krasnodar, Primorsky and Krasnoyarsk regions), 76 schoolchildren out of 600 have reached the finals.

    The final week was a serious challenge for all participants. On the training day, the League’s curators together with the golfers walked around the field where the guys had to play, showed all kinds of punches and most of the game situations, that young players could face. After the master class, theory and practical analysis of the team held a training session on their preference, either in the form of a short game or driving range.

    There were three competition days ahead. The first day traditionally began with the team parade, welcoming speech of the official guests, announcement of the team compositions and the basic rules of the chief judge. The tension was high. Throughout the season, students trained in gyms and fought for the right to take part in the League finals. 19 strongest out of 150 teams came to the Rostov region. 76 players were accompanied by the coaches.

    At the end of the third day the winner in the team event was the team of Rostov region (school No. 3, named after M. I. Platov), silver also was taken by the southern region (school No. 11, named after A. M. Pozynich), and the bronze went to the capital (Moscow School No. 1575).

    In the boys’ competitions the team standings were won by the Rostov region (school No. 3, named after M. I. Platov), Krasnoyarsk region (Gymnasium No. 3) became 2nd, Sakhalin region (Eastern gymnasium of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk) became.

    In the girls’ competitions the first and second places were taken by representatives of the Rostov region (school No. 11 named after A. M. Pozynich and School No. 3, named after M. I. Platov, respectively), bronze was taken by representatives of Moscow School No. 1575.

    The boys’ individual competition was won Ilya Egorov (Rostov school No. 3, named after M. I. Platov), silver medal went to Yegor Sharov from Krasnoyarsk region (Gymnasium No. 3), bronze was won by Artem Kozlov  from the Krasnodar region (School No. 13, named after V. V. Gorbatko).

    In the girls’ individual standings the entire pedestal was occupied by golfers from the Rostov region: Anna Nechaeva (School No. 3, named after M. I. Platov) won gold, silver and bronze were taken by representatives of the school No. 11 named after A. M. Pozynich Anastasia Vereitinova and Varvara Getman.

    New records were set. Zhanna Konopleva (School No. 13, named after V. V. Gorbatko, Krasnodar region) became Best Juggler; she juggled the ball 271 times! Her schoolmate Artem Kozlov, who threw the ball to 147 meters, won the Distant Throw contest!

    The winners of the All-Russian School Golf League are determined after a series of competitions organized by the Russian Golf Association with the support of the Olympic Country program. Competitions are an integral part of the School Golf project. Its main objectives is to promote Golf among schoolchildren, to form motivation to a healthy, intellectual, ethically-moral lifestyle, to improve the system of health promotion of the younger generation, to organize high-quality leisure for schoolchildren, to identify gifted students and to involve them in systematic Golf trainings.
