Head of the Federation of Sport Journalists of Russia (FSJR), deputy chief editor of the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper, Head of the Russian Fair Play Committee Nikonay Dolgopolov was reelected  Vice-President of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS). Closed elections were held with the use of new electronic system. He scored  85.1 percent of the vote.

‘That is a great result, taking into account that the 80th AIPS Congress, held in the capital of South Corea and later in Pyeongchang, the host city of the 2018 Olympic Games, was attended by representatives of 102 countries. He was re-elected as Vice-President in such an uneasy moment for our sport, which demonstrates respect of sports journalists from all over the world for their colleague from Moscow. It also demonstrates their support to the changes that are underway in our sport,’  reads  the statement of the FSJR Executive Committee.

President of the organization Gianni Merlo of Italy kept his post.

Before that elections to the AIPS-Europe was held. This continental organization is one of four AIPS organizations. First Vice-President of the  FSJR Lev Rossoshik became Vice-President of AIPS-Europe. Delegates of all 33 European countries gave their votes to him.
