Students Sports Stars Ball was held at the Russia State Central Concert Hall

On Friday, November 14, Students Sports Stars Ball was held at the Russia State Central Concert Hall. It was organized by the Russian Student Sports Union (RSSU) with the support of the Moscow Government. The best student athletes and the teacher trainers of the leading athletic universities of the country became the heroes of the night.

The opening ceremony was attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma,  President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) and a member of the International Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov and RF Presidential Aide, Vice-President of the ROC, Igor Levitin, who delivered a greeting from the Head of the Presidential Administration Sergei Ivanov to the ball’s guests.

The Head of the ROC congratulated those present on the great achievements of the national students sports in the Olympic Movement.

“In our country there are a lot of real sports stars that bring glory to our country at the stadiums, – said Alexander Zhukov. – In Sochi ten students became Olympic champions, in London twelveб not to mention our team’s brilliant performance at the Kazan Universiade. In general, today our students sport is on the rise and that is great, not only because the students bring sporting glory to our country at the Olympic Games, world and European Championships, but also because more and more students are engaged in different sports”.

Students Sports Stars Ball is a solemn ceremony honoring the best student-athletes, national sports federations, universities, government and public organizations which have significantly contributed to the development and promotion of students sports. The programme of the Ball includes the Award Ceremony praising the winners of the All-Russian Review-Competition for the best organised sports activities for the students, held annually by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Russian Student Sports Union.
