Vladimir Sengleev met with the delegation of the United Arab Emirates

On September 22, a meeting of the ROC administration with representatives of the Women’s Sports Organization of the Emirate of Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) was held at the Russian Olympic Committee. It was organized because the colleagues from the UAE were eager to get to know Russia as a country that pays great attention to the development of the Olympic movement and sports in general.

Director General of the ROC Vladimir Sengleev informed the participants of the meeting about the ROC’s activities, as well as the projects implemented by the ROC in order to promote mass sports and strengthen the values ​​of Olympism. Vladimir Sengleev also drew the attention of his colleagues to the observance of the provisions of the Olympic Agenda 2020 on gender equality. In particular, he informed the participants that at the Sochi and Rio Games the Russian Olympic team represented almost equal gender ratio.

Ms. Nada Alnakbi, Director-General of the Organization, shared general information on the development of sport in the UAE, focusing on the development of women’s sports, as well as the support they provide to women athletes when they join sports clubs, in order to increase the number of women, playing for the UAE national team at the Olympic Games in the future.

The parties agreed on joint work on the possibility of organizing friendly matches between Russia and the UAE, as well as on joint training activities in such sports as volleyball, basketball, fencing, wrestling, athletics, shooting, equestrian sports, etc.

At the end of the meeting, all participants got acquainted with the ROC Innovation Center, its projects and prospects for further development.

On the part of the ROC, Deputy Director General for Sport Igor Kazikov, Adviser to the President Anna Malinina, Deputy Head of the International Relations Department Alexey Slautin and member  of the ROC Athletes Committee Lada Zadonskaya took part in the meeting. From the Women’s Sports Organization of the Emirate of Sharjah Alanoud Alsaadi, Fatma Mohamed and Majid Alnuaimi took part in the meeting.
