Vladimir Boytsov: “I will do my best to justify the trust placed in me”

Vladimir Boytsov has been appointed as the Head Coach of the Russian National Bobsleigh Team. Previously this position was held by Alexander Scheglowskiy, who died suddenly on 28 February during the World Cup in Winterberg, Germany, at the age of 50. According to Pierre Luders, national team Head Coach, Vladimir Boytsov has the necessary expertise and experience and that is why he was appointed Head Coach.

“Vladimir Boytsov was appointed to this position, because he knows how we work, how the training process works. In addition, he has great experience. In this situation, his candidacy was the most appropriate”, – Pierre Luders told the R-Sport agency.

In an Express interview with the ROC Information Service the new Head Coach of the Russian National Bobsleigh Team noted that this appointment was a surprise to him.

“Certainly, the news of the appointment was quite unexpected. I pleased to be trusted, and I will do my best to justify this trust. Our main task during preparation for the PyeongChang Olympic Games is to view and train promising young athletes. We will observe their results and in accordance with the work done we will later decide on the composition of the team”, – said Vladimir Boytsov.

Earlier Vladimir Boytsov worked as a Head Coach of the Russian Women’s National Bobsled Team.
