Vladimir Vasin turned 70!
Today Vladimir Vasin, the first Soviet champion in diving, Honoured Vice-President of the Russian Olympic Committee, turned 70.
At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich Vladimir Vasin won the three-meter springboard diving competition and went down in history as the first Soviet athlete who became an Olympic champion in diving. Also he interrupted the hegemony of American divers, who have won constantly in this event since 1920.
After finishing his sports career Vladimir Vasin received an economic degree, worked at the diving competitions as the referee of international category. Starting from the end of eighties Vladimir Vasin is holding a superior position at the Russian Olympic Committee. During this time he has been the Head of the delegations at three Olympic Games, and contributed significantly to the development of the national and world Olympic movement.
The team of the ROC asks Vladimir to accept the heartiest congratulations and wishes him good health, happiness, well-being and new achievements in his multifarious activities for the benefit of Russian sport!
