Elena Shadrina and Oleg Chen won gold medals at the European Weightlifting Championships
On Monday, April 7, Russian weightlifters won two gold medals at the European Championships, held in Tel Aviv (Israel).
In the weight category under 58kg Elena Shadrina showed the best result, becoming the European champion. She scored 212 kg summing the results of the double-event (97kg in the snatch + 115 kg in the clean and jerk). Romanian Loredana Toma took second place – 211kg (96+115). The bronze medal went to Zoe Smith from Britain – 204 kg (90+114).
Russia’s Maria Lubina completed the continental championship in the fifth position – 201 kg (91+110).
In the men’s competition Russia’s Oleg Chen won gold medal in the weight category under 69 kg. Our athlete scored 327 kg summing the results of the double-event (151+176). Armenian Vanik Avetisyan stepped onto the second step of the podium – 315 kg (140+175), followed closely by Moldovan Sergei Cheshir – 315 kg (143+172).
Russian Felix Halibekov finished fourth – 315 (143+172).
On Tuesday, April 8, Russians Tima Turieva and Nadejda Lomova will step onto the Tel Aviv platform – weight category under 63 kg, and Razmik Unanian – weight category under 77 kg.
