Pre-Olympic Sports Journalists Forum has come to an end in Sochi
The all-Russian training workshop-forum for sports journalists ended on Saturday, Nov. 9, in Sochi. It was the last forum before the start of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.
It was the fourth forum. The program of the forum was developed by “RIA Novosti”, ANO “Joint Information Center” and the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). Over 200 Russian journalists, representing federal and regional mass media, accredited and non-accredited for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, have gathered in the capital of the 2014 Olympic Games for the forum.
Vladimir Vasin, the Honorary Vice-President of the ROC, has spoken to the reporters on behalf of the Russian Olympic Committee. The forum participants have learned about the work of the committee with mass media and about the special authorities that the ROC gives to the journalists, such as the opportunity given to the press attaché to attend the mixed zone.
The ROC Press Commission together with “RIA Novosti” held a contest for the regional media “Your sports star”. It was organized because of the increased media attention to the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, 2014. As a result 26 accreditations were presented to the winners of this contest.
By the special decision of the Jury 5 additional accreditations have been given to the representatives of the Krasnodar Territory press (“Sochi Public Newspaper”, “Sochi Our Home”, “Sochi News”, Yuga.ru and “Kuban News”).
“The fourth seminar of the sports journalists who will cover the historical games is coming to an end. These Games can be called historical not only because of the time factor, but also because of their impact on the sports in our country. They will be outstanding because Russia and the Soviet Union made an outstanding contribution to the development of the world Olympic and sports movement”, – said Vladimir Vasin in his opening speech.
The main theme of the sports journalists forum, which began on November 8, was the work of the media at the XXII Olympic Winter Games. The participants of the meeting discussed cooperation issues and the rules of communication between staff of the sports federations and media before and during the Games as well as sports journalism code of ethics.
