Russian team took first place in the team competition at the European Weightlifting Championships
Russian national weightlifting team won first place in the European Championships, which took place in Tel Aviv (Israel). Our athletes won six gold, five silver and one bronze award.
Second place went to the team of Bulgaria (2, 1, 3) and Polish athletes took third place (1 , 2, 1).
These are the names of Russian athletes who became European champions: Elena Shadrina (weight category up to 58 kg), Tima Turieva (63 kg), Tatyana Kashirina (over 75 kg), Oleg Chen (69 kg), Andrey Demanov (105 kg) and Alexey Lovchev (over 105kg).
Russians Nadejda Lomova (63 kg), Oksana Karpunenko (75 kg) , Julia Konovalova (over 75 kg) , Adam Maligov (85 kg) and Timur Naniev (105 kg) mounted the second step of the podium.
Razmik Hunanian (77 kg) received the bronze medal.
According to the head coach of the men’s team Alexander Venkov, his athletes were above all praise. “At the European Championships we tested the young athletes and they approved themselves. I expected them all to receive medals because the guys worked very hard at the training sessions”, – said Venkov.
The Head coach of the women’s national team Alexander Vidov also noted that the young athletes who went to the continental championships did not let the team down.
