  • Today, the Supervisory Board recommended that the General Meeting of RUSADA members disagree with the decision by WADA’s Executive Committee issued on December 9, 2019 declaring RUSADA non-compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code and the ensuing consequences this ruling entails.

The ROC, as one of the founders of RUSADA, at the next scheduled meeting of the Executive Board, due to be held on December 24, will deliberate this recommendation, as well as the issue of legal assistance in regard to the interests of the Russian Olympic Committee.

If the General Meeting of RUSADA members supports the recommendation of the Supervisory Board, then, in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code and the WADA International Standard for Compliance, the litigators to the case before CAS will be WADA and RUSADA. The ROC has the right to independently act as an interested party whose rights may be infringed upon by the consequences of WADA’s decisions.

In addition, the RPC, All-Russian and international sports associations, as well as other organizations and individuals, whose rights and interests could be affected in one way or another, can also take part in the case brought before CAS as third parties.

The General Meeting of RUSADA members will take place in the near future, and subsequently an official notification will be sent to the World Anti-Doping Agency by the Director General of RUSADA at the time set forth by WADA’s International Standard.

Stanislav Pozdnyakov, President of the ROC:

    – I am sure that the recommendation by RUSADA’s Supervisory Board will be adopted by the members of the General Meeting. The Supervisory Board is an independent body, consisting of respected, competent colleagues who have made a balanced, informed and motivated decision today. We have no reason to disagree with this decision. As a matter of fact, the recommendation procedure of the Supervisory Board to the General Meeting of RUSADA members is the same as the recommendation procedure of the Compliance Review Committee (CRC) to WADA’s Executive Committee.
