RIOU begins training courses as part of IOC’s Olympic Solidarity NOC management programme

On September 8, the Moscow branch of the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) opened its doors to the first class of IOC’s Olympic Solidarity NOC management programme — National Training Courses for Sports Administrators. By the end of 2020, four courses are planned to be implemented.

On August 8, the whole country celebrated the XXXI All-Russian Olympic Day dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games. For the very first time in history, a large-scale sports and cultural festival was organized in conjunction with Day of the Athlete.

69 years ago, on April 23, 1951, the National Olympic Committee of the USSR was founded with Konstantin Andrianov becoming its first leader. It was under his supervision that Soviet athletes made their debut at the Olympic Games which took place in the summer of 1952 in Helsinki.

Today, the first meeting of the ROC Executive Board was held this year at the Russian Olympic Committee. Right before, on behalf of the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, nine-time Olympic champion in gymnastics Larisa Latynina was awarded a special IOC award for outstanding contributions to the development of the Olympic movement.

The first ever meeting of the ROC Athletes’ Commission with the representatives of the All-Russian Sports Federations took place today at the ROC Headquarters in Moscow. During the meeting, athletes received a great deal of useful information and had the chance to ask their own questions.
