  • This year, the traditional annual holiday will be held primarily online and will be accessible to sports enthusiasts around the world.

    Stanislav Pozdnyakov:

    Dear friends!

Today, on June 23, the world sports community celebrates International Olympic Day commemorating the revival of the Olympic movement in its modern form.

This year International Olympic Day is taking place under special circumstances and, as a result, is being held online. The world is fighting the coronavirus pandemic, and sport remains a powerful driving force that plays an important role in overcoming this global challenge. International Olympic Day, which is held under the auspices of the IOC and the National Olympic Committees of various countries, aims to bring people together from all continents in order to show that we can all remain strong, active, take care of our health and fitness, treat each other with respect and help out whenever we have the opportunity.

Olympic values are relevant today more than ever before. They are shared by athletes from all over the world who inspire, motivate and teach by setting an example. That is why the IOC, in celebration of today’s holiday, organized a live 24-hour workout event on the Olympic Channel, where athletes, including our Olympic champion in rhythmic gymnastics Margarita Mamun, will conduct an online marathon with master classes, physical drills, various exercises and motivating campaigns.

Therefore, today each of you has the opportunity to once again experience and prove that sport and a healthy lifestyle are not only useful, but also interesting, modern and prestigious.

I would like to congratulate everyone on this holiday and wish you all good health, productive training, vigour and the desire to achieve the best possible results in all your endeavours!

Go in for sports! And continue to cheer for our athletes!
