  • A meeting between the ROC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov and the President of the Japanese Olympic Committee Mr. Tsunekazu Takeda during the ANOC General Assembly in Tokyo was the second one within the last six weeks. Prior, the Presidents of two NOCs had a meeting during the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.

    In talks, the parties discussed the concrete steps and plans for a strategic partnership as well as main areas of cooperation, including related to the preparation for the Games of the ХХХII Olympiad 2020 in Tokyo.

    During the meeting, also attended by the former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Russian Federation and the current Vice President of the Japanese NOC Yasuo Saito, Stanislav Pozdnyakov and Tsunekazu Takeda agreed to shape the final agenda for bilateral relations in the nearest future, and to sign a new updated Memorandum of Cooperation between the National Olympic Committees of both countries at the V Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok in 2019.
