  • President of the ROC commented on the IBSF Anti-Doping Commission’s decision to suspend Alexander Zubkov.

    Stanislav Pozdnyakov:

“The IBSF Anti-Doping Commission’s decision to suspend Alexander Zubkov until December 18, 2020 imposes legal obligations not only on the Bobsleigh Federation of Russia, but also on the ROC, of which the federation is a member. The situation is quite unpleasant for our Bobsleigh as a whole, given the recent suspension of three more athletes, and requires urgent, clear and understandable action.

For our part, we will ask the Bobsleigh Federation of Russia to immediately implement the international federation’s decision, which provides for the early termination of Alexander Yurevich’s powers as president and the holding of a meeting of the federation’s supreme governing body to elect a new head of the organization.

It should also be understood that, in accordance with our Charter, ROC membership may be terminated by a decision of the Executive Committee in connection with actions violating the fundamental principles of the Olympic Movement, the IOC Olympic Charter and the National Olympic Committee. I hope that we will succeed in resolving this issue through our joint efforts in the normal course of business. Otherwise, all the ROC’s activities and cooperation with international sports organizations could potentially be undermined”.
