  • The President of the Russian Olympic Committee spoke about the implementation of the orders of the President of the Russian Federation.

    Stanislav Pozdnyakov:

    – President Vladimir Putin instructed ROC to take comprehensive measures to officially restore the membership of the All-Russian Athletics Federation to IAAF and to ensure the participation of all members of the Russian Olympic team at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Over the past year, the Russian Olympic Committee has been constantly working to protect the rights of Russian athletes as part of Olympic competitions. For instance, all members of our team, without any restrictions, performed at the Youth Olympic Games, and now we are looking forward to participate without any restrictions at the upcoming European Games in Minsk and the European Youth Olympic Festivals.

Pursuant to the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation, ROC has begun creating two interdepartmental working groups in order to officially restore the membership of the All-Russian Athletics Federation and protect the rights of our athletes on the international arena. These working groups will in a mandatory manner include representatives of the Ministry of Sport, as well as public sports organisations.

We are planning to approve the final composition of the groups in the near future so that work in these directions can start without delay. In particular, I think that several recommendations will be made, and in my view this will help facilitate the official reinstatement of the All-Russian Athletics Federation into IAAF, despite the existing problematic issues.
