  • The President of the Russian Olympic Committee sent a congratulatory message to Russians in honour of the 74th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

    Stanislav Pozdnyakov:

    With all my heart, I congratulate all the veterans of the Great Patriotic War on today’s great holiday!

    This is a sacred day and I am convinced that each one of treats it with special warmth. After all, there is no family that hasn’t been affected by those terrible events. It is impossible to render in words the feat of the people who defended our country and its future, saved the world from Nazism and genocide, and went through the horrors of a bloody war. Today we are alive thanks to them and it is with this understanding that each new generation grows.

    On behalf of the Russian Olympic community, I would like to pay tribute to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and in particular I would like to wish our veterans good health, happiness and prosperity! And a peaceful sky above for all of us for the sake of which our forefathers gave their lives.

    My congratulations to you, dear veterans!
