As part of the WGYC and SCO, the Russian Olympic Committee will hold the VII International Forum of Young Olympians on June 4-5. This major sporting celebration aims to promote the fundamental principles and values of Olympism among young athletes. Additionally, it will focus on humanitarian efforts, education, and raising awareness in the community.
The Minister of Sports of Russia and President of the Russian Olympic Committee Michael Degtyarev addressed the participants of the upcoming sports and educational events in Vyborg.
– On behalf of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation and the Russian Olympic Committee, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the participants, organizers and guests attending the IX World Games of Young Compatriots of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization – hosted for the first time in the Leningrad region. As President of Russia Vladimir Putin highlighted, sports play a vital role in fostering friendship and mutual understanding among nations, while promoting humanism, prosperity and goodwill. These Games stand as a symbol of international cooperation, spiritual unity and a commitment to sports. They bring together nearly 550 young athletes from 35 countries, where our fellow citizens reside, including citizens of CIS nations and Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states.
The Games hold special significance due to their rich cultural and educational programs, honoring the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This legacy brings us all together.
As part of the event, the Russian Olympic Committee will be hosting the International Forum of Young Olympians. This innovative format is being introduced for the first time, and I truly believe that the Games will not only celebrate sports and friendship but also mark a significant milestone in the lives of all participants.
I wish you all faith, hope, love. It is our shared passion for Russia and sports that unites us. May you find great success!
