Michael Degtyarev:
Dear Friends, I want to take a moment and to congratulate you on International Olympic Day! The International Olympic Committee was founded on June 23, 1894, and shortly after, this special day was established. Russia first joined the Olympic Games during the era of the Russian Empire, and we saw remarkable achievements during the Soviet period. Overall, our athletes have proudly won a total of 1,800 Olympic medals. Our champions and medalists serve as guiding stars for the younger generation – children and young adults from all across the regions of great Russia.
We honor our champions, and Russia rightfully holds a significant place in the Olympic movement. I believe our athletes are destined for even greater victories.
Despite facing unjust and treacherous sanctions, our dedication to the Olympic values remains unwavering, as does our support for the Olympic movement.
I do believe that we will again stand at the Olympic venues, on the podiums, and in the stadiums, with our national flag, anthem, and the Russian coat of arms displayed on our apparel.
Today, we honor our champions and celebrate the proud history of our country; we extend our heartfelt congratulations to our veterans. Additionally, we are launching new initiatives. “A Great Country – a Sports Power”- the one that is aimed at promoting the Olympic movement, inspiring the younger generation, and highlighting the glory of Russia.
Wishing you faith, hope, and love, as our shared passion for Russia and sports brings us together. May you achieve great success! Happy Olympic Day!
