The Russian Olympic Committee unequivocally announces its intention to appeal to CAS against the ISU’s decision to redistribute the final positions in the team figure skating tournament at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. Our lawyers have already started preparing the necessary documents for the appeal.

Our stance is grounded in the understanding that, in accordance with the prevailing and applicable ISU rules, the consequences of a decision to penalize an individual athlete, such as Kamila Valieva in this case, cannot serve as the foundation for revisiting the outcomes of a team event. Our legal standpoint is founded, among other considerations, on existing precedents within the jurisprudence of the CAS.
