    They discussed cooperation between the Embassy of the Russian Federation and the French side, including the Paris 2024 Organising Committee, the current situation with the French Schengen visas and anti-epidemic rules, as well as preparations for the upcoming meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the French Republic and the Principality of Monaco Alexey Meshkov and Chairman of the 2024 Games Organising Committee Tony Estange.

    Anton Tokovinin, Third Secretary of the Russian Embassy in France, recalled that on 14 March, Paris hosts the celebrations marking the 500 days until the start of the Summer Olympics. One of the highlights of the day is an official reception at the Elysée Palace, where French President Emmanuel Macron meets the head of the 2024 Games Organising Committee, Tony Estange.

    – The participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in the 2024 Games is being actively discussed in the local media. As far as the French authorities are concerned, until a formal decision is taken by the IOC, substantial contacts with Russian diplomats and other Russian representatives are currently restricted from the French side,” Anton Tokovinin said.

    Rodion Plitukhin spoke about the work being done in anticipation of the systemic decisions of the international sports federations and the IOC.

    – It is crucial to receive information about the return of our athletes to international competition in the coming weeks, as the Olympic selection process is already underway,” said the Secretary General of ROC.

    Anton Tokovinin, for his part, assured that the Russian Embassy in France will provide all the necessary help and support to the Olympic delegation both in the preparation for the 2024 Games and during the competitions.

    ​Vitaly Muravyev, First Secretary of the General Secretariat of the Russian Foreign Ministry, and Alexander Rulin, First Secretary of the Department for Multilateral Humanitarian Cooperation and Cultural Relations of the Russian Foreign Ministry, also participated in the online conference.
