In an official letter signed by TAFISA President Wolfgang Baumann, the organization unilaterally and without explanation notified the ROC of the termination of the contract between the ROC and TAFISA and the termination of cooperation in preparation for the 8th TAFISA World Sport for All Games 2024.

The ROC views this move as a continuation of the unprecedented pressure on the Russian sports community and another attempt to isolate our country from participating in any international sporting events.

TAFISA’s decision looks like a clear contradiction to the very essence of this association, which positions itself as an organization whose activities are aimed at “promoting physical activity for the sake of health, joy, social interaction, integration and communication of people around the world.”

The 8th TAFISA World Sport for All Games in Nizhny Novgorod should have become a unique celebration of mass sports as part of which active lifestyle enthusiasts from all over the world could have had the opportunity to acquaint other participants with traditional sports, along with the culture and history of their countries. The slogan of the International Olympic Committee “Unity in Diversity” was chosen as the motto for the Games, and it is obvious that their main result would have become the strengthening of peace, friendship and mutual understanding between peoples.

The Russian Olympic Committee considers the decision of TAFISA to cancel the 8th TAFISA World Sport for All Games in Nizhny Novgorod to be groundless and reserves the right to go to court for reimbursement of expenses already incurred related to the preparation for this large-scale sports event.
