  • President of the ROC Alexandr Zhukov held a working meeting with the Head of the Tunisian Olympic Committee Mehrez Boussayene. The parties discussed a wide range of issues, including coaches’ seminars and education and training camps with participation of national youth teams in competitive sports, Boxing, Judo, Weightlifting and Athletics.

    For the President of the Tunisian Olympic Committee it was the first visit to Moscow. He spoke about the sports, that are most popular in his country.

    ‘In our country Volleyball, Handball and Basketball are developing actively, on the African level. There are glorious victory. Judo, Boxing, Weightlifting, Athletics and Gymnastics are also popular. In Tunis there are modern sports centers and we invite Russian athletes, young and renowned, to hold training camps in our country. We are also interested in the exchange of innovative sports technologies and experience. I am sure that it would be a mutually advantageous cooperation, especially taking into account long lasting friendly relations between our countries,’ said Mehrez Boussayene.

    Alexandr Zhukov in turn suggested to consummate the relations.

    ‘The memorandum on cooperation at the NOC level will help us settle the issues, we talked about; among them are exchange of coaches’ qualification and holding training camps in Tunis and Russia. In addition, we suggest our partners to study at the Russian International Olympic University in Sochi. The RIOU is focused on preparation of highly qualified specialists in sports management,’ said the Head of the ROC.

    Mehrez Boussayene emphasized, that for his Olympic committee it would have been a great honor to become ROC’s partner and invited Alexandr Zhukov to visit Tunis.
