  • The President of the ROC sent a congratulatory message to all sports and healthy lifestyle enthusiasts on the occasion of the upcoming huge sports festival – All-Russian Walking Day!

    Dear friends!

This year, on October 5-6, the Russian Olympic Committee will hold All-Russian Walking Day for the fifth time. The festival is eagerly awaited by sports fans in 50 regions of the Russian Federation.

It is worth noting that the first International Walking Day event was held more than 20 years ago. For the ROC, an active member of The Association For International Sport for All (TAFISA), Walking Day is an important event that highlights the essence of our work.

The fact is that ROC focuses not only on high achievement sport and the Olympic Games, but also contributes to encouraging as many people as possible to take up physical activities. However, this holiday certainly has a connection with the Olympic Games. After all, the Olympic principle of Pierre de Coubertin “the important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win, but to take part” perfectly reflects the concept of All-Russian Walking Day.

I invite everyone to celebrate All-Russian Walking Day by going for a sports walk in the fresh air on the first weekend of October, thereby supporting our Olympians due to participate in the Olympic Games in Tokyo next year. I wish you all good health and a great mood!

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the ROC General Sponsor – the global energy company Gazprom, the ROC General Partners – Russia’s largest airline Aeroflot and the official outfitter of Team Russia ZASPORT, and the ROC Partner – Norilsk Nickel Mining and Metallurgical Company for assistance in organizing the 5th All-Russian Walking Day.
