  • Russian skier Pavel Trikhichev won two gold medals at the Far East Cup, held on Sakhalin Island. 25-year-old athlete from Monchegorsk won the Slalom and the Giant Slalom. In addition, he became the second in another race of the Giant Slalom, conceding 0.16 seconds to the Slovenian Stefan Hadalin on the result of two races.

For Trikhichev, it was the first competition after the Pyeongchang Olympic Games, where he was seriously injured in a fall on the downhill track in the super combined. At the hospital, the skier was diagnosed with a number of severe bruises, a slight concussion, as well as elbow injury. Due to the risk of aggravating the elbow injury, the athlete had to finish his performance in Korea ahead of schedule.

Fortunately, the recovery did not take much time, and a month later Trikhichev obtained two victories at the Far East Cup in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Now Pavel is preparing for the Championships of Russia which will take place in the city of Polyarnye Zori (Murmansk oblast).
