At the Universiade Russian National team moves up to 4th position in the overall team standings

On the seventh day of the XXVIII Summer Universiade, held in Gwangju, South Korea, Russian athletes won 16 medals, including 3 gold, 4 silver and 9 bronze. This result allowed the Russian National team to move ahead of the US team and claim 4th place in the ranking.

Alla Kulyatina won Gold for our team in the Women’s 10000m. Our Shooting team was the best in the Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Team event. And Kirill Grigoryan had no equal to the Men’s 50m Rifle Prone event.

Nikita Sukhanov (Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol), Gulshat Fazletdinova (Women’s 10000m) and Natalya Vinogradova (Women’s Skeet Shooting) added Silver medals to their team’s medal haul on the seventh day of the Universiade.

On July 8, Bronze medals went to Alexander Bulanov (Men’s Shot Put), Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Archery Recurve teams, Women’s National Foil Fencing team, Men’s and Women’s Judo teams, Women’s 10m Air Pistol Team and Maria Meleschenko, who became third in the Women’s Skeet Shooting.

At the moment, the Russian team has 53 medals (12-19-22). Our athletes climbed one step up in the rankings and moved ahead of athletes from the United States. The top-three finishers are:  the teams of Korea Republic, China and Japan, respectively.
