Sports federations, regional Olympic Councils and Olympic Academies nominated Alexander Zhukov as candidate for ROC presidential election
Federation of Ski-Jumping and Nordic Combined of Russia, Russian Water Polo Federation, Football Union of Russia, Regional Olympic Councils of Arkhangelsk, Ivanovo, Kurgan, and Sakhalin regions, Olympic Academies of the Volga Region, of Southern Russia and of the Moscow Region officially nominated Alexander Zhukov to participate in the election of the Russian Olympic Committee President, which will take place at the meeting of the Russian Olympic Committee, on May, 29.
“During the four years of his presidency, Alexander Zhukov proved himself the best possible way, – said the President of the Moscow Regional Olympic Academy Sergei Seyranov, explaining their choice of candidate. – Perfectly organized home Olympic Winter Games and team Russia’s overall victory pove it. Moreover, it is worth noting that last year Zhukov became a member of the International Olympic Committee. This is very important in representing the interests of Russia in the main world sports institution”.
“Our choice is quite obvious. One of the reasons is that the second term in office is the best time to realize the plans, – said the head of the Federation of Ski-Jumping and Nordic Combined of Russia Alexander Uvarov. – I am sure that these plans will include more sensitive and attentive support of the sports which brought us no medals at the Games in Sochi, such as Nordic Combined and ski jumping”.
Nomination of presidential candidates will last until May, 15.
