  • On July 17, Sochi will host the report-election conference of the Bobsleigh Federation of Russia. Among the contenders for Presidency are the current head of the federation, multiple world champion, Olympic medalist Alexander Zubkov, assistant to the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Anatoly Pegov and former head coach of the Russian national team Oleg Sokolov.

    Alexander Zubkov was nominated by 6 regional federations: Moscow, Moscow Region, Krasnodar Region, Irkutsk Region, Leningrad Region and Orel Region.

    Anatoly Pegov was nominated by the Krasnoyarsk Region Luge and Bobsleigh Federation. Head coach of the Moscow national team Oleg Sokolov gained support of the Voronezh Region Bobsleigh Federation.

    In addition, the delegates of the reporting and election conference will elect a new Presidium of the Bobsleigh Federation of Russia.

    On June 3rd, Vyborg hosted the opening of the IX World Games of Young Compatriots and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states. The large-scale competitions will feature around 450 athletes aged 14-18 from 35 countries.
