Russian national wrestling team took first place in the European Championship
Russian national wrestling team took first place in the European Championship, which ended on Sunday, April 6, in Vantaa (Finland). Russians won nine gold, two silver and five bronze medals.
Greco-Roman wrestlers have completed the program of the continental championship. On the final day Alexander Chekhirkin from Russia won the gold medal in the 75kg weight category, by beating Arsen Julfalakyan (Armenia) in the final battle. Another representative of Russia Adam Kurak became European champion in Greco-Roman wrestling. He was stronger than Hasan Aliyev (Azerbaijan) in the final fight. Bronze medals went to Ivan Kuylakov (-59kg) and Vasiliyud Parshin (-130kg) from Russia.
In freestyle wrestling victories were claimed by Magomed Kurbanaliev (-65kg), Aniuar Geduyev (-74kg), Abdulrashid Sadulayev (-86kg) and Abdusalam Gadisov (97kg). Second places were taken by Bekkhan Goygereyev (-61kg) and Alan Hugaev (-120kg).
In the women’s wrestling tournament Russia’s Maria Gurova (-53kg), Valeria Koblova (-58kg) and Natalia Vorobieva (69kg) became champions of Europe. Bronze medals went to Nadejda Fyodorova (-48kg), Irina Ologonova (-55kg) and Yekaterina Bukina (-75kg).
