Both sides discussed preparations for the Children of Asia Games, the development of the sports infrastructure of Primorsky Krai and cooperation in various areas.

Oleg Kozhemyako thanked the head of the ROC for his support in organizing the competition.

    – Thank you for coming here along with our famous athletes, Olympic champions and prize-winners to support the Children of Asia International Sports Games, which we will be holding for the first time in Primorsky Krai. This is a very important project for our region which will allow our youth to feel the taste of international competitions and test themselves at the level of serious rivals. The Children of Asia Games will certainly become an additional incentive for the development of their sports career.

The Primorsky Krai team consists of over 600 people, more than half of them are athletes and volunteers. By participating in the Children of Asia Games, we are able to solve several problems at once. First and foremost, I mean the education of young people, and to some extent the preparation of the Olympic reserve. As practice shows, several participants of the Children of Asia Games subsequently become Olympians and achieve success at the largest international competitions, – said the Governor of Primorsky Krai.

The President of the ROC emphasized the importance of holding events of this level in the Far Eastern capital, especially in the current international situation, and also noted the coordinated work of all interested parties in organizing the upcoming competitions.

    – Despite the unfriendly actions of some foreign colleagues, we have the opportunity to hold international sports games in Vladivostok. In order for this project to be implemented, the Children of Asia Games International Committee and the Vladivostok Organizing Committee have done a great job. The rich heritage that will remain after the Games will be used in the future by young athletes and healthy lifestyle enthusiasts. This is also important from the viewpoint of comprehensive work in preparing a sports reserve in our country for the longer term. The Olympic Movement does not only imply sport. With the help of such competitions, we instill in the younger generation eternal values such as friendship, respect, and the pursuit of excellence, – said Stanislav Pozdnyakov.

Oleg Kozhemyako shared his plans to modernize the sports infrastructure in the Far Eastern region.

    – The last large-scale construction of sports facilities in Primorsky Krai dates back to the period of preparation for the 1988 Summer Olympic Games in Seoul. Of course, since then the standards and requirements for sports facilities have changed significantly. We are ready to keep up with the times. Moreover, there is the corresponding order of the President of the country. We are planning to build several centers for various sports including rhythmic gymnastics, martial arts, hockey, curling, and track-and-field athletics.

Now many geopolitical processes are shifting to the Asia-Pacific region, where 50 percent of the world’s population lives. This factor cannot be ignored. Our region is a convenient platform for interacting with neighboring countries, including in the sports sphere, – emphasized Oleg Kozhemyako.

Stanislav Pozdnyakov, in turn, spoke about the work of the ROC Innovation Center.

    – In recent years, we have been successfully developing our Innovation Center, which tests athletes with the most modern technologies. Based on the data obtained, coaches have a more objective picture of the state of athletes in the process of training. The main venue of the Innovation Center is located in the building of the Russian Olympic Committee, and I officially invite you to visit it. In addition, branches of the ROC Innovation Center have been set up at federal bases in Sochi and Kislovodsk. It will be logical if such an innovative platform also appears in the Far East over time, – concluded ROC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov.
