9 December 2014 Anastasia Davydova, Secretary General of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) has been awarded an IOC Women and Sport Award for her role in promoting gender equality in sport at the IOC’s 127th Extraordinary Session in Monaco.

“It’s definitely a great honor to receive this award. If I understand correctly, I became the first woman candidate proposed by the Russian Olympic Committee who received the Women and Sport Award. When I was told about this I could not even believe it. Of course, I was pleased that the IOC appreciated my Olympic synchronized swimming center project. So, I’m going in the right direction and doing a really important and necessary thing.

As for the money allocated for the development of the project, it will be spent on the creation of a video course for the coaches to raise their qualification. We have already decided that this program will be sent to the regions of the Russian Federation. We also plan to translate these video courses into foreign languages and to share our experience and knowledge with foreign representatives of synchronized swimming.

All my previous awards were directly related to my sporting achievements. This is the first award that I received as a person willing to strengthen and promote women’s  position in sport. It’s doubly pleasant for me!”- said Anastasia Davydova in her commentary.

The Russian Olympic Committee congratulates Anastasia Davydova on winning the   honorary award and wishes her success in the implementation of her sports projects.
