Gou Zhongwen highly appreciated the firm support for the Beijing 2022 from the Russian party, sent his congratulations to Russian athletes for ROC delegation ranking the second in the medal ranking and extended appreciation for the contribution of Russian sport community to Chinese athletes’ training and preparation for the Games.
During the meeting, Gou Zhongwen expressed his hope to further expand the bilateral sport exchanges and cooperation within “2022-2023 China-Russia Year of Sport Exchanges” to make a greater contribution to strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between the sport communities and peoples of the two countries.
Stanislav Pozdnyakov congratulated his Chinese colleague on the successful delivery of the Beijing 2022 despite all the challenges caused by the global pandemic and also on the high results achieved by Chinese athletes in winter sports . The Head of the ROC stressed the willingness to intensify sport exchanges with the COC and to expand and deepen sport cooperation between the two countries, which is expected to bring tangible results.
Stanislav Pozdnyakov also briefed about Russian athletes’ training and competition processes. Gou Zhongwen, for his part, once again expressed the hope that sport would continue to play its unique role in fostering mutual understanding and friendship, and in promoting solidarity and peace.
