  • The cultural center of the Embassy of Korea (Republic) organized a Table Tennis friendly match aimed at developing cooperation in the field of sports. The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Russian Federation Mr. Wu Yun Geun, and assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Vice-President of the Russian Olympic Committee, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Table Tennis Federation Igor Levitin participated in the match. Several games were played in singles and doubles.

    In addition, in the framework of the meeting Diplomas of Gratitude of the ROC were handed to the employees of the Cultural Center, the heads of the Department Kim Su Yong and Pak Min-Gyu, and assistants to the Director Maria Dziga, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Alexandra Strigunenko for helping the Olympic delegation of Russia at the 2018 Games.

    In the framework of the Memorandum signed by the Embassy of Korea (Republic) and the Russian Olympic Committee on June 1, 2017, at the Winter Olympic Games  in Pyeongchang representatives of the Korean Cultural Center, assisted Russians in solving a number of issues, including the meeting of Russian athletes at the Incheon airport.

    In his welcoming speech, Mr. Wu Yun Geun thanked the ROC for the Diplomas and noted that the Table Tennis match will be another reason to strengthen friendship between our countries.

    Igor Levitin, in his turn, expressed his gratitude to the organizing Committee of the Olympic Games  in Pyeongchang for the attention to the Russian delegation, noted the role of the President of South Korea, Mr. Moon Jae-in, the Embassy of Korea (Republic) in Moscow and Mr. Wu Yun Geun. He also emphasized that ‘in today’s match, there is only one winner – friendship.

    The participants of the meeting also expressed condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the terrible fire at the shopping center in Kemerovo.

    The ROC Athletes’ Commission is Approved

    At its meeting on Wednesday, the Executive Board of the Russian Olympic Committee approved the results of the elections to the new Athletes’ Commission, which includes 15 athletes.
