  • The President of ROC Stanislav Pozdnyakov and the President of NOC Hungary Krisztián Kulcsár signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Budapest. The ceremony took place in the framework of the World Fencing Championships where Stanislav Pozdnyakov is present as the President of the European Fencing Confederation.

    – We will be happy to share our experience in the field of sports administration, training athletes and organising major sports events with our colleagues from Hungary, – said Stanislav Pozdnyakov.

The agreement envisages joint training sessions, educational activities for coaches, exchange of judges and the implementation of programmes that are useful for all members of the Olympic family.

    – The Russian Olympic team is one of the strongest in the world; it occupies a leading position in many sports. The Memorandum opens up new opportunities for our sports federations to cooperate with our Russian colleagues. This partnership must be mutually beneficial and I am sure that your specialists will also be able to learn from us, – said Krisztián Kulcsár.

The President of NOC Hungary stressed that the sports friendship between Hungary and Russia goes back more than 100 years. For example, the Hungarian writer Ferenc Kemény, together with Lieutenant General Alexey Butovsky, in 1894 became one of the first members of the International Olympic Committee.

It is worth mentioning that both Stanislav Pozdnyakov and Krisztián Kulcsár won medals at the Olympic Games not so long ago and on numerous occasions became world champions in fencing. However, the only difference is in style: Stanislav Pozdnyakov competed in sabre fencing, while Krisztián Kulcsár competed in épée fencing.
