  • Every June, the Russian Olympic Committee holds the All-Russian Olympic Day, which is dedicated to the main state or sporting events of the year.

In 2014, the main mass sports festival of the summer was dedicated to the successful performance of the Russian Olympic team at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

In 2015 – to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, in 2016 – to the upcoming Games of the XXXI Olympiad 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, in 2017 – to the upcoming XXIII Olympic Winter Games 2018 in Pyeongchang.

Traditionally, the winter and summer federations take part in the event, and they organize their own venues and competitions, as well as 2km and 5km races. Many Olympic champions and medalists of summer and winter sports, as well as candidates striving to become members of the Russian Olympic team for the upcoming Games, participate in celebrating this day.

Traditionally, as part of the All-Russian Olympic Day, participants organize workshops, demonstrations, autograph signings and photo shoots, as well as football gala matches between Olympic teams of winter and summer sports.

Every year, from 20 to 50 thousand people take part in the events organized at the central venues of the festival in Moscow (Sokolniki, VDNKh, Gorky Park).

From 2014 to 2017 the following companies took part in the event: Gazprom, Aeroflot, ZASPORT, 01 Group (Non-State Pension Fund ″Future″), Norilsk Nickel, Sport FM, Rostelecom, Megafon, EF English First, Coca-Cola, Panasonic, P&G.

In the regions, the organizers of the All-Russian Olympic Day are the Olympic Councils and the executive authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in the field of physical education and sports.

Festive sports and cultural events take place in 82 regions of the Russian Federation with a total number of participants exceeding 2 million people.

At the end of 2016, emphasis was placed on the better organization of the All-Russian Olympic Day and new approaches, criteria and recommendations were put forward. For the first time, the electronic registration of participants was introduced for this event.

In order to increase the number of participants of the All-Russian Olympic Day in the regions, a special contest ″Flagship of the Olympic Country″ was established. In 2017, 71 regions of the Russian Federation took part in the contest, and ultimately the winner was the Olympic Council of the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic.

One of the most significant factors for the proper organization of events was the decision of ROC to allocate funds to the regional Olympic Councils to hold the All-Russian Olympic Day. Every year more than 16 million rubles is spent for these aims (200,000 rubles per region).

In addition to sports competitions, the Olympic Day program in each region includes cultural events, Olympic lessons, various contests and exhibitions at competition venues that show the Olympic heritage of districts, regions, territories, and republics.

Competitors are awarded certificates of the International Olympic Committee, diplomas of the Russian Olympic Committee, Olympic textbooks, as well as awards and souvenirs of the executive authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in the field of physical education and sports in regional Olympic Councils.
