  • The President of the Russian Olympic Committee congratulated sports enthusiasts and devotees of a healthy lifestyle in Russia on one of the main sports festivals of the year.

    Stanislav Pozdnyakov:

    Dear friends!

Today, people all over the world are celebrating the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.

The main attribute of this festival is a white card which is a symbol of purity and a constructive approach in sports.

As is well-known, the pursuit of fair play is one of the fundamental Olympic principles and the most important component of sports in general. Therefore, the Russian Olympic Committee fully supports the main idea of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace and shares the desire of its organisers to make sport as transparent and honest as possible.

The White Card flash mob will be held on April 6 in many regions of the country at the premises of children’s sports schools and educational institutions with support from the Olympic Councils of ROC. Photos of participants will be posted on social media.

Anyone can take part in the “White Card 2019” promotional event by making individual or joint photos with the symbol of peace through sport – holding a white card in hand.

I invite all sports enthusiasts and devotees of a healthy lifestyle to join this noble and important event!
