Olympic lessons were held in Russian schools

An unusual lesson for the students of Troitsk School was held. It was a part of the all-Russian program of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). On Wednesday, March 5, President of the ROC and a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Alexander Zhukov and  medal winners of the Sochi Olympic Winter Games – a bronze medalist in snowboarding Alyona Zavarzina and a two-time silver medalist Albert Demchenko acted as teachers at the educational institution of the Science City.

Alexander Zhukov: Dakar – the first serious competition – sets the tone for the year

On Wednesday, January 29, at the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov, the President of the ROC and the IOC member had a meeting with the winners and the participants of the world-famous Dakar rally, which ended triumphantly for the Russian team, not only in the truck category, where KAMAZ-master team won the race for the 12th time.

On Tuesday, January 28, since morning Samara sports Lyceum was active and despite the freezing weather and the blistering wind, none of the students skipped school. Skaters tested mobile laboratory of the ROC

In January, in Inzell a mobile laboratory of the Russian Olympic Committee held a gathering together with the Olympic speed skating team, in order to help athletes reach their full athletic potential before the start of the Olympic Games in Sochi. The head of the special projects of the Russian Olympic Committee Sergey Zotkin spoke about the work of the laboratory and the secrets of preparing the athletes.

On Tuesday, January 21, a ceremony dedicated to the 85th anniversary of an outstanding statesman, Chairman of the Sports Committee of the USSR and the President of the National Olympic Committee of the USSR Sergei Pavlov was held in the office of the Russian Olympic Committee. This important occasion brought together legendary athletes, sports managers, honored workers of culture and sports of Russia as well as former colleagues and associates of Sergei Pavlov.

ROC awarded Red Star journalists for their contribution to the Olympic Movement

On January 13, the Day of Russian Press, Deputy Executive Director of the Russian Olympic Committee, Andrey Selivanov took part in the formal meeting of the Red Star editorial board, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the newspaper. The periodical, actively covering everyday life of the Russian armed forces, has been paying special attention to physical culture, to the development of national sports and promotion of the Olympic Movement and its ideals for decades.

The project “Living Energy” won the contest “Olympic change”

In November, the Russian Olympic Committee and the Worldwide Olympic Partner  Visa launched the all-Russian competition “Olympic changes”. The project was aimed at picking the best ideas on integrating sport into people’s everyday activities. Over one and a half months, everyone could present their ideas at the site and compete for the grand prize. In total 446 works have been received from different cities of Russia, 122 of those works passed the qualifying round and were submitted to the jury.

Laura is choosing Olympic patterns

The service center, that has resumed its work this week, is located at Laura Biathlon and Cross-Country Stadium, where in February the best skiers and biathletes of the world will compete for Olympic medals. Test runs are also being conducted here. The objective is not just to make the skis run faster, but to pick a pattern for each weather. In the mountains the weather is changing very often — two, three times a day.

Yelena Isinbayeva is recognized as Athlete of the Year according to Sport Journalists of Russia

World champion in pole vault Yelena Isinbayeva is recognized as athlete of the year 2013. Solemn Silver Doe Award ceremony was held on Wednesday, December 18, at the Russian Olympic Committee. Traditionally, the national journalists name the best athletes of the past year, but this time there was an innovation – the best athlete and the best coach of the year were announced.
