Stanislav Pozdnyakov took part in St. Petersburg International Legal Forum – 2019

As part of the 9th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum (SPBILF), the ROC President spoke at the discussion session “Development of UNESCO International Convention Against Doping in Sport: Current Challenges and Prospects”, during which the participants discussed further steps in the anti-doping sphere in order to ensure fair and transparent rules of interaction between states and representatives of the international Olympic movement in countering the use of prohibited substances.

Russian representation in IOC Commissions increased

Within the framework of the implementation of Agenda 2020, IOC President Thomas Bach introduced changes to the composition of the main Commissions of the International Olympic Committee. By the decision of the IOC head, ROC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov was included in the Olympic Programme Commission (it considers including or excluding certain sports from the programme of the upcoming Games), and head of the ROC President’s Office Rodion Plitukhin became a member of the Sport and Active Society Commission.

Today, a meeting of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport chaired by Vladimir Putin was held at the Anastasia Davydova Olympic Centre for Synchronised Swimming. The main focus was on national goals and strategic objectives in regard to the development of sports in the country up until 2024 and beyond.

From February 26 to March 3, athletes from 28 regions of the Russian Federation will determine the best players in individual and team ranks. The XIV European Youth Olympic Winter Festival has ended in Sarajevo. Russian athletes won 12 medals – two gold, seven silver and three bronze ones. On February 15, a ceremony honouring the winners was held at the HILLS hotel which became an Olympic Village over the course of the festival.
